Assistant Professor Biology Teaching Focused
Position Description
The University of Louisville is seeking two tenure-track, teaching-focused Assistant Professors to join the Biology Department starting fall 2019. Responsibilities of these positions will center on teaching introductory biology and other core majors lecture and lab courses using student-centered, evidence-based pedagogy. Teaching duties may include additional upper-level courses depending on the qualifications of the applicants.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and includes a competitive benefits package and retirement contributions.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in any area of biological science, significant teaching experience, preferably at the college-level, and demonstrated research potential. Preferred candidates will provide evidence of excellence in teaching and the successful implementation of student-centered, active-learning pedagogies in small and large enrollment classes, as well as a commitment to diversity and inclusion in science education. The successful candidate is expected to develop a research program that leads to peer-reviewed publications in the biological science area of expertise and/or post-secondary biology education. It is expected that these positions will contribute to other department and college programs designed to enhance retention and persistence of students.
