Unistellar mission is to transform astronomy into an adventure that everyone-novice or expert, amateur or professional, alone or in a team-can enjoy the beauty of the cosmos and the excitement of scientific research. This is possible through eVscope, an intelligent device that is both simple to use and incredibly powerful. Since its debut in 2019, the eVscope has revealed to countless people around the world the beauty of galaxies located millions of light years away, and allowed them to make an important contribution to space missions that explore asteroids or detect exoplanets. Our markets are, in the USA (served by our subsidiary office in San Francisco), Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
Unistellar has quickly gained the support of celebrities and thought leaders, and is now looking for an expert in media, social networks, and virality to exploit the gold mine of content and enthusiasm generated by the eVscope and its users. Our goal is to accelerate the growth of our community, which is crucial to the future of Unistellar and popular astronomy.
If you love astronomy and space, and are knowledgeable about new media, this role will provide you an unprecedented opportunity to generate media buzz while making valuable contributions to science, crowd-sourcing, education and space. In addition, in this role, you will collaborate with Unistellar head of marketing, the SEO expert, community manager and content creators, the chief scientific officer, in-house YouTuber, the Unistellar community, university professors, research institutes, astronomy clubs, associations, and community colleges.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate the story of Unistellar to key audiences with a focus on the eVscope and its many users;
- Highlight media content focused on Unistellar and its community of enthusiasts, including their technical achievements, observations of rare phenomena, blog posts, and community mobilization;
- Establish and execute multi-channel broadcasting in general, specialized, and social media, YouTube, and other forums;
- Ensure maximum dissemination of any news relevant to Unistellar, its users, and its customers;
- Capitalize on Unistellar's dynamism and the community it has created to generate viral phenomena in social media while providing scientific and human-interest content;
- Identify and approach key influencers (journalists, YouTubers, etc.) to tell the Unistellar story;
- Develop ideas to communicate to the enthusiastic citizen astronomers and people interested in space exploration;
- Regularly follow popular science influencers and publications;
Qualifications:
- MS degree in Science and/or communications;
- At least five years of professional experience in the field and proven mastery of virality (e.g. a fast-growing YouTube channel, an innovative Instagram, an ecommerce site, creation of a festival, a Facebook page, major articles, etc.);
- Must have a creative mind and passion for storytelling about science and astronomy;
- Outstanding communication skills and ability to interact and collaborate with scientists, and experts in the field are required;
- Excellent technical skills are required;
