Saint Mary’s College has an immediate opening for the Director of Integrated Communications. This position directs strategic message development and manages writing assignments across integrated communication channels, including print, web, and social media; writes copy for various College communications; serves as the editor of Courier, the Saint Mary’s College periodical, responsible for its development, production, and distribution, as well as a contributing writer; manages content strategy and development for the College website; servers as the primary editor for the Marketing Department. This is a full-time position.
Duties include: · Lead a team of internal and external writers to develop promotional and editorial content across integrated communications channels, including web, social, and print promotion, among others · Works closely with AVP Integrated Marketing Communications to develop messaging strategy · As Courier editor, develops editorial calendar and strategy, writes, edits, and supervises writers and designers to produce the 44-page periodical three times per year · As website content manager, working Marketing staff, develops content plan, writes and assigns writers, edits content prior to publishing and after live online · Writes copy for various College projects, including website, social media, Courier, collateral, speeches, and others · Maintain, communicate and monitor uniform set of College brand standards, including College writing style guide and graphic standards
Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in English, writing, journalism or related field with a minimum of minimum of five years related writing and marketing experience, preferably in higher education; strong editorial, and promotional writing ability, as well excellent verbal communication skills; experience producing a print publication, including editorial strategy development, editing, and print production; experience writing content for websites; working knowledge of social media, and other digital communication channels; exceptional editing skills; ability to lead a writing team to develop content that leverages the evolving marketing channels to our best advantage, in contribution to overall College marketing strategy; demonstrated project management skills, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; experience working with industry-standard applications for business (e.g. Microsoft Office), publication (e.g. Adobe CS), and web content-management systems; proven ability to work effectively with administrators, internal staff, writers, designers, editors, photographers, and printers.
