Position Summary
Reporting to the Dean of Enrollment Management, the Director of Financial Aid spearheads the Financial Aid department, developing and implementing a plan for the awarding and distribution of funds to eligible students in a timely, accurate, and equitable manner. They manage the financial aid staff and related programs, maintain close working relationships with the Admissions & Records and Business Office departments, and work with students, parents, and various staff to communicate financial aid policies and requirements.

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field from a regionally accredited college or university
A minimum of 5 years of relevant and progressive experience in higher education financial aid
Extensive knowledge of State and Federal financial aid policies and procedures
Demonstrated record of achievement in implementing successful programs at a higher education institution
Experience with program and policy development and implementation
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) to interact with students, parents, college personnel, and government agencies
History of working with Department of Education computer software and Financial Aid programs
Technology Skills: MS Office skills, Word, Excel, Access; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
Preferred Skills
Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field
Experience with the Banner student information system
Specific Role and Responsibilities
Manage the Financial Aid Office and administer financial aid programs
Coordinate the financial aid process with all Northeast State off-campus sites
Maintain current knowledge of state and federal funding programs, policies and regulations, and other requirements by external authorities through reading and reviewing documentation, professional memberships, attending conferences and workshops; and disseminating relevant information to staff as appropriate
Ensure the Office of Financial Aid focuses on helping students and parents complete the FA process
Develop and implement annual budget and strategic planning for the office
Develop and implement a plan for the awarding and distribution of funds to eligible students in a timely, accurate, and equitable manner
Counsel students and parents regarding the availability of aid, application procedures, college policies regarding recipients, federal and state regulations, the process of needs analysis, and necessary documentation
Hire, train, supervise, and conduct annual performance reviews for the financial aid staff and student workers
Submit timely and accurate reports to federal and state agencies
Perform federal verification and assist with packaging new and continuing students
Oversee budget and programs for Federal College Work Study, Academic Work Scholarship Program, and Student Employment program
Maintain communication with all administrative offices to ensure positive and accurate working relationships
Review financial aid forms and recommend the development of new forms for the department
Participate in the review of financial aid marketing recommendations for strategic enrollment management
Develop and implement a digital records management system
Keep the Dean of Enrollment Management informed on appropriate financial aid issues, policies, strategic planning, and related activities
Interpret and communicate the impact of new U. S. Department of Education policies to appropriate campus leaders
Handle and resolve student/parent/staff concerns regarding student financial aid
Implement, coordinate, and oversee one or more specific administrative programs and/or service areas, as assigned
Train and serve as an operational resource to other staff and/or students, as appropriate; may supervise student employees or additional staff
Conduct workshops and/or presentations to students, parents, and/or other interested parties on financial aid policy and procedural issues
Cross-train within the Student Services Division
Complete other assignments as directed by supervisor

Maintain digital calendar and archive annually on June 30. Provide supervisor with access to calendar and an archived copy of calendar for annual performance review.

Lead/promote College and TBR initiatives as they relate to this office.
