The Environmental Services Tech I is responsible for cleaning tasks in patient rooms, nursing stations, lounges, restrooms, offices, clinic areas, and any other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department, and in accordance with Mercy Hospital Joplin standards and objectives. The Hours for this position will be 3:00pm-11:30pm rotating weekends and holidays. Responsibilities and Qualifications Upholds established standards of cleanliness. Keeps assigned areas sanitary, attractive and orderly.
1.1. Performs tasks listed on assigned area cleaning work sheet. Following SOP's.
1.2. Organizes time to complete special cleaning tasks of windows, walls, ceiling, and vents.
1.3. Work station and cart are clean, neat, and stocked.
1.4. Works daily with nursing staff so that discharge rooms are done on a timely basis.
1.5. Practices infection control, standard precautions and safety policies when carrying out duties.
Properly uses and maintains housekeeping equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
2.1. Department equipment is cleaned and stored in designated areas before the end of each shift.
2.2. Equipment will be properly used following manufacturers and safety guidelines.
2.3. Supervisor is notified by end of shift when maintenance or repair is indicated.
2.4. Follows hazardous communication and hazardous material policies and procedures.
Properly collects and disposes of waste.
3.1. Collects waste at designated areas as per schedule using infection control and safety precautions.
3.2. Regulated waste will be properly contained & stored.
3.3. Collection containers are cleaned or replaced as scheduled or needed.
Knowledgeable regarding proper procedures for emergencies and incidents that occur within scope of position.
4.1. All incidents reported promptly to supervisor on duty.
4.2. Familiar with departmental procedures and responds accordingly.Qualifications:Because you're committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy.
