Responsibilities and Qualifications
Serves as Dispatcher for Safety and Security, Maintenance Departments, and Mercy East Region Offsite locations. Dispatches respective requests (in a logical order) immediately upon receipt of the request. Answers phone lines within 3 rings. Answers phones in a courteous manner consistent with the mission and values of Mercy. Also, serves as the Communications Center for Mercy Hospital St. Louis by processing incoming, outgoing and inter-department telephone calls. Receives requests for Public Safety, Clinical Engineering, and Maintenance and enters requests Report Exec, Epic, and EasyNet (respectively). Confirms requests and enters requests in Report Exec, Epic, EasyNet, and Maintenance Work Order Request System. Also provides assistance to physicians, patients, family members, staff of Mercy and the general public through the correct, expedient, and courteous transferring of calls, overhead paging, or beeper communications. Provides patient location information as well as answers specific hospital inquiries and locating resources for additional information. The Dispatcher must also perform the function of contacting emergency medical teams for emergency procedures, according to department protocols and other services requested. The Dispatcher must be able to sit at a computer for long periods of time. The Dispatcher reports to the Communications Center Supervisor.
