Carroll Community College seeks a part-time Mediation and Outreach Specialist for the Carroll County Community Mediation Center (CCCMC).
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for administrative duties, partnership interaction, and data compilation to support the Community Mediation Center. This position reports to the Director of the Carroll County Mediation Center.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Answer phones informing callers about CCCMC services
- Conduct pre-mediation intake and screening with potential mediation participants by phone or in person
- Co-mediate cases and assist with the evaluation of parenting plan mediators
- Schedule and coordinate mediation sessions with participants and site partners and volunteers
- Data entry and maintenance
- Maintain partnership with Carroll County Circuit Court
- Attend Court weekly to provide same day mediation services, present agreements to the Court, conduct pre-mediation intakes and schedule mediations referred/ordered by the Court
- Maintain calendar of mediations, outreach events and trainings
- Compile reports and data as required/requested by Grantors and the Court
- Use small office equipment including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems
- Use computers for data entry, word processing and/or accounting purposes
- Work with Volunteer Appreciation Committee to plan and coordinate volunteer appreciation efforts
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- High school diploma or equivalent and one-year office experience
- Experience with office equipment (copier/fax/scanner etc.)
- Computer experience (Microsoft Office)
- Organized and exhibits attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Must be positive, cooperative and supportive
- Preferred - Trained in the inclusive model of mediation, member of MPME
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This work is normally sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
- Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
- Visual Acuity/ability to perceive or detect surroundings
- Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand and convey subject matter
- Repetitive motion (i.e. keyboarding)
- Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to another
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
College campus, direct contact with students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, common areas, offices, and campus environments. Use of safe workplace practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations; and observance of traffic laws when/if driving a College vehicle. Work hours may vary 29 hours per week.
