DESCRIPTION:
Serves as a representative of CCC&TI to prospective students, parents and organizations within the sphere of influence of the college. This position will be responsible for assisting prospective students through the college admissions process as they consider enrollment into CCC&TI programs. The Admissions Representative will help create and implement recruitment strategies to reach prospective students through events, online and print communications and outreaches to community organizations, public school systems and business and industry. The admission representative must demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, administrators, faculty and staff.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Essential and other responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
1. Serve as a primary contact for admissions information. Maintain a thorough and up-to-date understanding of educational opportunities of the college while communicating that understanding to faculty, staff, and students as needed to execute and improve the quality of institutional admissions processes.
2. Develop and implement follow-up processes with prospective students.
3. Utilize phone, email, and postal mail to communicate with prospective students in a timely manner, providing superior student service.
4. Work with prospective students to complete the entire admissions process including the online application, Residency Determination Service (RDS) and Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
5. Serve as the initial point of contact for admissions, maintaining contact with prospective students and applicants, answering questions, making/returning phone calls, responding to email messages as directed by the Director of Admissions and Academic Planning.
6. Facilitates registration appointments for new students upon admission to CCC&TI.
7. Serves as an Academic Advisor for students as assigned by the Director of Admissions and Academic Planning.
8. Works collaboratively and communicates directly with Records and Registration, Academic Advising and Financial Aid staff, as required.
9. Help create, maintain and participate in New Student Orientation.
10. Coordinate recruitment efforts including; campus visits/tours for programs: lead/participate in tours, facilitate classroom/lab visits with faculty.
11. Assist with the admissions of special population groups including student athletes, international and undocumented students.
12. Recommend necessary changes to the admissions sections of the college catalog and the Student Services Policies & Procedures Manual.
13. Develop and maintain admissions materials for all programs in coordination with Marketing and Communication.
Marginal Functions:
1. Attend professional development activities.
2. Provide information and data to complete the local, state, and federal reports as required.
3. Assist in graduations.
4. Assist in the development, maintenance and adherence to policies, rules and regulations of the college.
5. Assist in assuring compliance with SACSCOC standards.
6. Represent the Student Services department at campus committee meetings.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.
This position description covers the most essential functions and duties associated with this position. The President or appropriate supervisory personnel may assign additional duties. QUALIFICATIONS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Knowledge of:
Community college philosophy.
Operation and use of computer equipment and related software including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment.
Business letter writing and basic report preparation.
Principles and procedures of record keeping.
English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Ability to:
Plan, organize, and coordinate workflows.
Maintain and update computer records, files and other documents.
Compile information and prepare computer-generated reports.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other departments.

Environmental Conditions:
The employee should have the ability to effectively handle a work environment and conditions which involve an office workspace, working closely with others, and periodically working irregular hours.
The employee must maintain the office environments by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment.
Physical Conditions:
The employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, reading and writing, operating assigned equipment, communicating with others, and handling varied tasks simultaneously.
Additionally, the employee must maintain mental capacity, which permits making sound decisions and using good judgment, demonstrating intellectual capabilities, and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and personnel.
Scheduling Conditions:
This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week, generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM., including one evening per week till 7:00 PM. Availability for both day and occasional evening work on any Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute site (or arranged off-campus site) is required during peak periods.
Traveling Conditions:
Local travel between the Caldwell campus, Watauga campus, or any off-campus sites may be needed. Out of state travel is limited, but may be required for training and conferences.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Experience:
Minimum one year of higher education experience in admissions, enrollment, or registration preferred.
Training:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human services, education, or a related field preferred.
