Job Summary
The Director, Resident Well-being Curriculum Development is responsible for leading the development and implementation of Atria's resident well-being curriculum, which focuses on resident engagement through innovative, dynamic programs. This individual partners closely with senior leadership and subject matter experts to build strategy, develop curricula and program guides, identify instructor competencies, and establish mechanisms for assessing program fidelity.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following essential functions are the fundamental job duties of the position to be completed with or without appropriate reasonable accommodation.
- Oversee the curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, and revision process to ensure resident engagement programs address seven (7) dimensions of well-being and adhere to Atria quality standards.
- Lead resident well-being curriculum development and maintenance projects including kick-off meetings, establishing and managing goals and deadlines, and regularly communicating progress of the projects to appropriate stakeholders.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, developing, and evaluating assigned staff.
- Coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts to identify desired well-being outcomes and develop program content using best practices and extant evidence base.
- Develop program modifications that enable access for residents in independent living, assisted living and memory care neighborhoods, who possess a range of physical and cognitive functional abilities.
- Ensure programs can be adapted for delivery in communities with a range of budgets and staff resources.
- Direct the selection and adoption of materials and supplies, tools, and other resources needed for program delivery.
- Develop program process and well-being outcome evaluation strategies.
- Identify staff competencies and/or credentials required for successful program delivery.
- Develop training modules focused on knowledge and skills necessary for delivering well-being programs, in partnership with the training department.
- Develop and execute piloting and roll-out plans for new programs.
- Manage communication to the field as related to implementation strategy of new programs
- Analyze and interpret all program process and outcome evaluation results to refine program delivery methods and/or content.
- Monitor evolving best practices and research evidence for older adult well-being programs and update curriculum as needed, in partnership with subject matter experts.
- Recommend new technologies to enhance program content, program delivery, and rollout processes, and provide staff with training necessary for program delivery.
- Stay current in active aging trends and research.
- May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree (MA, M Ed, MS) in gerontology, developmental psychology, health promotion, or closely related field; Doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) preferred.
- Five (5) or more years of experience directly related to the design and development of program-based curriculum, preferably in health promotion, wellness, gerontology, or developmental psychology.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of multi-dimensional models of wellbeing and ecology of aging and lifespan developmental models of aging.
- Deep understanding of cognitive decline and dementia.
- Strong project management, organizational, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong supervisory and coaching skills. Proficiency with Microsoft desktop applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Teams, etc.
- Knowledge of age-related technologies as they pertain to resident well-being.
- Experience with e-learning methods and delivery formats preferred.
- Experience applying multi-dimensional models of well-being and developmental models of aging to develop well-being programs for older adults preferred.
- Experience developing and implementing innovative programs to enhance the well-being of individuals with cognitive decline or dementia preferred.
